High 5! Missions
Our High 5 Missions VBS Offering will help provide mission trips to 5 continents! Our church members are going to North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia within the next year to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples.
This year’s VBS offering is a fun Boys Team vs. Girls Team competition! When making your gift, please select the fund for the team you would like to support – Boys Team or Girls Team. Each donation helps their team in the competition while also supporting the High 5 Missions VBS Offering and helping spread the Gospel around the world.
NORTH AMERICA
- WHERE: PUERTO RICO
- WHEN: JULY 2026
- WHO: 16 spaces available for HS students/adult leaders
- COST: $1,800
- WHAT: First Roanoke students & their adult leaders will be working in collaboration with NAMB on various community outreach projects
AFRICA
- WHERE: LESOTHO
- WHEN: OCTOBER 2026
- WHO: 10 spaces available
- COST: approx. $3,000
- WHAT: Team will engage our adopted valley and surrounding community in evangelism and discipleship initiatives, including continuing progress with developing Awana Clubs in Lesotho. Families with middle and high school students welcome on this trip.
SOUTH AMERICA
- WHERE: BRAZIL
- WHEN: MARCH/APRIL 2027
- WHO: 25-30 spaces available
- COST: approx. $3,400
- WHAT: Team will be a blend of medical and non-medical members engaged in medical clinics and evangelism initiatives. Middle and High School-aged kids may serve on this team with their parents.
EUROPE
- WHERE: ENGLAND (London area)
- WHEN: MAY 2027
- WHO: 8-10 spaces available
- COST: approx. $1,400
- WHAT: Team will partner WITH IMB missionary family with three kids based in the greater London area to carry out evangelism/discipleship initiatives. This team will be made up of mostly college age and young adults.
ASIA
- WHERE: INDIA
- WHEN: MAY 2027
- WHO: 8-10 spaces available
- COST: approx. $3,000 **
- WHAT: Team will be engaging local communities in evangelism and discipleship initiatives, likely hosting a VBS for the community. All adults are welcome on this trip.
ADULTS ON MISSION
Everyone is invited to the ADULTS ON MISSION sponsored MISSIONS MORNING! Date is Saturday, April 25, 9:00-12:00 pm. in the LOFT. Are you looking to get more involved in missions? How about meeting some new folks in the church or fellowshipping with old friends? If so, come join other First Roanoke folks on this day!
Our projects will be: decorating T-shirts with fabric paint; tying fleece blankets for pac a sac bags for foster children; writing cards for our homebound members, and making salvation bracelets for mission trips. We also need SEWERS to make personal hygiene items for the Lesotho trip. Just bring your portable sewing machine!

Volunteers needed to read & listen (2:30-3:30 only for listeners). Call the Keystone Community Center to register: (540) 330-6263. High School volunteers are welcome.
GO TEAMS
GO Teams are “sent out” on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, following up with families or individuals who have visited our church.

Care Portal Ministry
Mission statement
The Care Portal Ministry at First Roanoke seeks to assist at risk families in the Roanoke valley with the desire to lead them to Christ and connect them to a local church.
Since our church has been involved in Care Portal, we have served over 140 at risk families and have had the opportunity to witness and pray with each family.
Services

We help deliver and meet needs that comes in through the Care Portal database, which is a database that families and caseworker can go through to submit actual needs.
1 John 3: 17-18: “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
DISASTER RELIEF TRAINING
The SBC of Virginia offers training to equip members of SBC of Virginia churches to respond during times of disaster. Each training offers necessary instruction for volunteers to respond with other Southern Baptists around the world during times of disaster and crisis. The training is practical and allows those, 18 years old and above, to serve with confidence.
You are now required to complete a portion of the DR training online! “Introduction to Disaster Relief” needs to be completed prior to attending the in-class portion of the training.
