First Place Child Development Center serves to care for your child in a safe, loving, fun and comfortable environment for both you and your child. Every week, your preschooler will learn truth from God’s Word through a Bible story, memory verse, and application activities. Each week’s lesson builds upon a foundational truth. Our purpose is to teach children that God made them, that He loves them, and that Jesus wants to be their friend forever!

Programs and Hours:
We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 5:30PM.
We operate year-round, but we are CLOSED for major holidays, a week at Christmas, and two teacher workdays.
We provide care for children ages 18 months through 5 years.
We have Summer Camp for Students who have completed Kindergarten through 5th Grade that runs from June through August.
Drop-in care is provided for registered K-5th grade students for school closures due to holidays, work days, and inclement weather.
Classes, Enrollment, and Pricing:
Fees due upon entrance for 18 months – Pre-K Classes:
- $75 Registration Fee
- $10 Insurance Fee
- $200 Material Fee
- $450 Escrow (Security Deposit)
- First Week’s Tuition
Before a student’s first day, a classroom visit and parent orientation must be completed for our 18 months through Pre-K classes.
A nutritious lunch and a morning and afternoon snack are provided at NO additional cost for our 18 months through Pre-K classes.
We have a nice large gym, outdoor playgrounds, preschool playroom, and a indoor playground for large motor play.
There must be a completed application, a current medical and immunization record, and a copy of the birth certificate on file before your child’s start date.

Summer Camp:

Drop-In Program:
We provide care for registered K – 5th Grade students when Roanoke City and County schools are closed.

CDC Director
Kimberly Whitenack serves as the Director of First Baptist Child Development Center, a role she has held since February 2020. She has been a dedicated member of the CDC team since August 2006, bringing nearly two decades of experience and leadership to the program. Throughout her time at the center, Kimberly has faithfully served in many roles—including Assistant Teacher, Lead Teacher, Enrollment Coordinator, and Assistant Director—giving her a well-rounded understanding of every aspect of the school’s daily operations and long-term vision.
A lifelong resident of the Roanoke Valley, Kimberly attended Roanoke Valley Christian Schools and earned her Associate’s Degree in 2009 from Virginia Western Community College. Her deep roots in the community and strong educational foundation have shaped her commitment to serving local families with excellence and care.
Kimberly is an active member of First Roanoke, where she enjoys supporting the Children’s Ministry. She is passionate about early childhood education and works closely with her staff to foster a nurturing, academically enriching, and Christ-centered environment where children feel loved, supported, and inspired to grow.
Kimberly lives in the Cave Spring area with her husband, Brian, and their three children.
