        Children's Sunday School

Please see our complete list of children's Sunday School classes.

At First Baptist Church we have very high standards for teaching and caring for babies and young preschoolers, ones, two, threes, fours, and fives.  We know that so much spiritual development can take place during the very young years.  Some of the ways we seek to maintain quality involve:

  1. Permanent, regular teachers in each class.
Young preschoolers are much more secure and happy when they know their caregivers.  A rotation of teachers is not good for children.
  2. An emphasis on teaching and not just "babysitting".
Recently Dr. James Dobson talked about the importance of talking to young babies.  Doing so stimulates brain development.
  3. Security procedures for leaving and picking up preschoolers, as well as a paging system for quick notification of parents when needed.
  4. Policies and procedures for cleanliness.
A clean room with clean toys and equipments is one way of saying "you are important" to a child.
  5. Providing Bible teaching material for all Sunday School teachers of preschoolers.  Parents are given material to use at home to provide Biblical teaching for their child.

At First Baptist Church we have 42 classes of babies - 6th graders.  This number of classes requires about 170 volunteer teachers.  Jesus said, "let the children come to me".  We know they will only come to Jesus when adults are willing to teach them about Jesus.  We can maintain high standards for our children only when adequate numbers of adults are willing to be involved and give some time to help.
